A Message from Nichole:

I'm very excited to be working with HarperCollins to bring the American Royalty series to life. I'm very interested in the life of politics--there is so much that goes on behind the scenes that most people never hear about and it intertwines with our daily government and in some ways, affecting everyone. As I was thinking about that fact, Jake and Maddie's story began to take form and I found myself enthralled by the challenges they would face and just what their happy-ever-after would entail, if there could *be* a happy-ever-after.

About Book 1 (Title To Be Announced) in The American Royalty Series:
Color me jaded, but coming home just isn’t the same when you have to go through security before you can see your dad. Don’t get me wrong, everyone had to go through security to see my dad. Even Kings, Queens, celebrities, my step-mother and half-brother we’re given the metal detector treatment. It wasn’t like I was a hooligan being singled out. It’s just part of life when your father is president. Go figure.

Maddie’s father is in his second term as president and she could care less. Being a politician’s child has made her world weary and leery of being manipulated. When she comes home from college for her summer break, she thinks it’s the last time she’ll be in the white house. Her father’s term is almost over and she’ll finally be able to live the life she wanted. What she doesn’t count on is facing her nemesis, Jake Simmon, back from the war. As the son of the Vice President, she had constantly been paired with him for events and during campaign tours. The tabloids loved to speculate about a possible relationship, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Jake was the perfect politician’s son. He always did as he was asked, always smiled, and to her absolute horror always looked dreamy.

In other words, he was her exact opposite.

Jake was finally home, but he couldn’t wait to escape. Instead of searching for peace and quiet after losing his leg in Afghanistan, he was sitting in on campaign meetings and giving interviews. He had never felt so helpless in his life, not even after waking strapped to a table in a blistering hot med tent. His mother was intent on using his brand new disability as a campaign tool. Show off her wounded son so people would find her relatable. The only positive thing he had to focus on was the fact that he would get to see Maddie again, which was pathetic when you considered that they hated each other. She’d always gotten under his skin, throwing caution to the wind and doing what she’d wanted while he had walked the line. In a world where everyone looked at him with sympathy, he knew she wouldn’t hold back. And though he was loathe to admit it, one of his favorite past times was verbally sparring with the spunky brunette. What he isn’t counting on is how much they have both changed over the last two years.

Blog Tour: Love Strung by Jamie W. Matlock

Love Strung by Jamie W. Matlock
(The Love Series #2 - can be read as a stand-alone)
Publication date: January 21st 2015
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Country music hopeful, Kennedy Masters is a leap-before-you-look type of woman. Live in the moment, the here and now. That’s her policy – anything other than that is boring, and she’s never been particularly interested in boring. So, when she makes the irratic decision to join country music’s reigning star, Mick Callahan, on his tour bus after a show, she’s just living right up to her life’s motto.
The only problem? Her snap decision making lands her on the front page news and it’s for less than desireable reasons. Even worse is the fact that Mick decides she’s his next conquest, irratically announcing to the public that they’re engaged.
Her only option? Hiding out at the Callahan Ranch until the storm blows over – a decision that she’s not altogether pleased with, but one that she must follow considering the circumstances. When unexpected sparks fly upon meeting Mick’s mysterious older brother, Griff Callahan, Kennedy’s left sorting through matters of the heart – something that’s not exactly her forte.
And her career? Well, it’s been labeled TBD.
Kennedy must figure out a way to deal with her heart and her career, all while fighting her own feelings and fending off someone else’s.

Actual rating is 3.5

What drew me to this book is that it had the element of music in it. Kennedy wanted to step out of her sister's shadow, the famous ex-tennis player Kole Masters by doing something totally different. She wanted to be a musician. Her dream was not without basis as she was truly a talented singer and writer, as what her mother always says to her. Now, she has set her path towards achieving that goal. She may not be living the dream, but at least she gets to sing her heart out as an extra in Mick Callahan's gigs. However, she may not get what she wanted but would she end up with what she didn't know she needed all along?

At first, I truly liked Kennedy Masters. She's the no-nonsense type of girl who lives by acting before thinking. I like that she's a little bit rough around the edges and yet, when she's with the people she trusts the most, she shows them a part of herself that she keeps guard. That is why, I got confused when Griff Calahan came to the picture.

Griff Calahan reminds me of a true NA Alpha Male with how he treats Kennedy at first until his complete confession on actually liking her in the end. There were instances in the book that shows his dominant trait on Kennedy.

Regardless, the book showed mostly the progress on the development and maturity of both characters as it focused more on how they conquered their demons together.

Jamie W. Matlock is the author of The Love Series, which includes Love Aced & Love Strung. Bored with punching a clock and watching dust collect on the frame of her marketing degree, she decided to turn her lifelong hobby into a career and hasn't looked back since.

Known for mixing both humor and drama into her novels, she likes for her readers to experience a gamut of emotions while enjoying one of her stories. She's also a sucker for flawed protagonists, strong male characters and incredible sex scenes, so be on the lookout for all three in each of her novels.

Outside of writing, you can find her spending time with her family, yelling at a television screen during sporting events, nursing her coffee addiction and coupling a good book with a glass of wine.

Sometimes, the rabbit hole is deeper than expected . . .

Alice Reeve and Finn Van Brunt have tumbled into a life of secrets. Some secrets they share, such as their employment by the clandestine organization known as The Collectors’ Society. Other secrets they carry within them, fighting to keep buried the things that could change everything they think they know.

On the hunt for an elusive villain who is hell-bent on destroying legacies, Alice, Finn, and the rest of the Society are desperate to unravel the mysteries surrounding them. But the farther they spiral down this rabbit hole, the deeper they fall into secrets that will test their loyalties and pit them against enemies both new and old.

Secrets, they come to find, can reveal the deadliest of truths.

In this sequel, Finn and Alice will face a unlike any other challenge they faced that will test their relationship and also to their respective Timelines.

We have discovered Alice’s past during The Collectors’ Society but will Finn be willing to share his past? We will see how the partners will go on a journey in discovering the mysteries behind the questions they uncovered from TCS. Is Rosemary Lovett and Sweeney Todd, who they say they are? Will they be able to solve those unanswered queries when they have problems of their own? TCS left us with zealous anticipation on what the answers are.

From my review of The Collectors’ Society, I wrote how I loved all of the aspects of the book, especially The White King. *wink* I can’t say this book outdid the first one since for me, reading into the world of TCS for the first time was a magical thing. But I can say that THL explored what TCS left behind. It retained the fun side of things even when there are warfare going on in some of the Timelines.

I liked that there’s a representative for fangirls. You’ll know it when you read about it. I sure hope to read of that character more. I loved that we are now seeing into Finn’s life before the Society. We can get a glimpse of his childhood and also see Mark Twain’s characters in a new light. His life and Alice’s is a big contrast to each other. Not in the means of the degree in hardships they faced but how they grew up and what they’ve experienced. No wonder they’re perfect for each other.

I loved that we delve into these Timelines that have different periods/era. We get to read characters from classics long after what we’ve read about them. All the while, having fun and laughing at the witty dialogues of the characters and much more with the regal & poised threats and lines of Alice.

The Hidden Library is about the love you discover while falling and the friendship you come across while climbing out the rabbit hole. Where can I apply to be part of the Society?

Surprise Release of A. Meredith Walters!

The Contradiction of Solitude by A. Meredith Walters
You may notice me but you will never know me.
I prefer it that way.
I am the daughter of a monster.
Born from blood and lies.
Dead before I have truly lived.
But Elian tells me that I’m different.
He tells me that I’m beautiful.
That I’m an enigma wrapped in irresistibly complicated skin.
Elian says that he loves me.
These words terrify me.
I can’t trust love.
Or hope.
Or truth.
Because I fear the beast inside.
It threatens to drown Elian and his sweet, unconditional love.

It’s a beast that will destroy everything.

**TRAILER**
Elian pulled at a loose string at the hem of his T-shirt. He dressed like he hadn’t done laundry in a while. His jeans were stained and his shirt faded and threadbare. His brown work boots were scuffed, the laces untied and trailing in the dirt. He reminded me of a little boy scared and running.
“I’m surprised you’re here,” he commented, shifting my focus from his shoes to his face.
“Why is that?”
“You just don’t seem like a live music kind of girl.” He laughed nervously, as though wishing he could take back his observation.
“You’re right. This isn’t normally my scene at all,” I admitted, leaning into him just slightly.
Elian snapped his fingers together. “I knew it!” As though he had just made a monumental discovery. These were tiny, inconsequential pieces that I gave away without effort. Safe. Painless.
“So why are you here?” he asked, pushing his hair off his forehead. I stared at him for a moment, taking in all the parts of him. His green eyes, the first thing that I really noticed about him. His dark hair that fell in a haphazard disarray across his forehead.
The scars, thin and shiny, crisscrossing along the length of his neck. They were brutal and violent. And when Elian was nervous he rubbed his fingers over the slightly raised skin as though trying to wipe them away. I wondered about the scars. I wondered about his false smile.
I wondered about Elian Beyer and his many, many secrets.

Rho was just beginning to wake up. Without opening his eyes, his ears began to process his surroundings. All he heard was the whizzing of the extraction machine. His first thought was that they must have extraction machines in hell…and that seemed fitting. His next thought was that maybe he wasn’t dead. The pain when he moved even the tiniest bit was evidence enough that he still had his body. Suddenly, he felt a rush blast though his veins and his eyes popped open. It was his familiar friend Lucid—but it was edgier and wilder than his own.
Looking down at his arm, he saw that there was only one tube extending from the machine into his port. With the bold Lucid beating through him, he figured that, for once, he was on the receiving end of the greedy machine. There was another set of piping going to and from the machine, and the tubes were connected to a port in someone else’s arm. Rho felt a wave of excitement. He figured that it must be one of his brothers in the bed next to him—no one else made anywhere near enough Lucid to save him.
When he opened his mouth to speak it was dry and tasted like the seawater he‘d swallowed by the mouthful. Then, paranoia washed over him and he stopped. What if he woke up whoever had him? Just because they were saving him didn’t mean that they didn’t intend to use him. Maybe they’d captured one of his brothers and were just bringing him back so they could harvest more Lucid from both of them.
Rho sat up in bed and the room began to spin. He gradually slid his legs out from under the covers and planted his feet on the floor. His drawstring pants were shredded, but the room was comfortably warm. When he no longer felt quite so dizzy, he took a few deep breaths and quietly leveraged himself off the bed. He stumbled and fell onto the foot of the other bed, bumping whoever was lying there.
There was a groan, and the hair on the back of his neck bristled. It was a female voice. The girl rolled over onto her back, mumbling ever so slightly. For a moment, Rho considered going back to his own bed, but he wondered if they were both trapped and if she was being forced to save him.
Careful not to bump her a second time, he inched his way up the bed. As far as he knew, he had no sisters. He peered down at her face. There were freckles across the bridge of her nose—she was somebody’s daughter.
“Wake up,” he said quietly, shaking her shoulders. It was harder than he guessed it would be. He repeated himself in French, just in case he was still in France.
Raleigh’s eyes felt heavy, and her body started to shake as she began to wake up.
“No more extraction,” she whispered, opening her eyes. She almost screamed when she saw Rho above her.
“Don’t yell,” he said, pressing his fingers softly against her lips. “I’m Rho. I’ll stop the extraction.” He pulled the tubes from her port and asked, “Are you all right?”
“You’re alive.”
“They could’ve killed you,” said Rho, furious that his last act on Earth may’ve been taking this girl’s life.

How I write my characters:
When I start a book I’m never positive how a character will turn out. I write them in different scenarios to get a feel for their voice and how they behave. Some characters that have started out sweet end up with a little bit of a dark side. I try to make my characters dimensional. I don’t like reading stories where people fit into too neat of boxes. I like to think that my characters surprise the reader at times while still staying true to themselves.

The best and worse part about being a writer:
I think the absolute best part about being a writer is the chance to put a story to paper. You start with nothing and in the end you have a world complete with people and events. A good story to me is one that is both entertaining and lets the reader develop their own opinions about the different topics presented. There are two things I find challenging about being a writer. The first is the distraction of having stories bouncing around my head. Sometimes I don’t have the right characters to tell my stories, or the proper scenarios to get my point across. It can be frustrating to work out these details. The second challenge is putting myself out there. It is a very humbling experience to have someone read what I’ve written. People get a peek into my thought process, and complete strangers get to experience something I’ve poured my heart into. That can be a very humbling and sometimes scary process.

My reading habits:

I enjoy reading, I’m sure most writers do. I’m one of those people that has trouble putting down a good book. I have a reading nook at my house. Usually it covered in a mess of children’s books. My kids love to be read too. Most of them are old, tattered things that I had when I was growing up. Some of them are missing pages, so I improvise. I hate letting go of books, and my basement is a testament to that. There are boxes of science books and pharmacology books from when I was in school, mysteries from my high school years, and sci-fiction, my current passion of late. Occasionally I reread one, and am not only swept into the world of the book, but to the time when I first read it.

Stay focused, get a job, save her father's life.

Beth Lamont knows far too much about the harsh realities of life her gilded classmates have only read about in class. She'll do whatever it takes to take care of her father, even if that means tutoring a guy like Noah - a guy who represents everything she hates about the war, soldiers and what the Army has done to her family.

Noah Warren doesn't know how to be a student. All he knows is war. But he's going to college now to fulfill a promise and he doesn't break his promises. Except he doesn't count on his tutor being drop dead gorgeous and distracting as hell. One look at Beth threatens to unravel the careful lies Noah has constructed around him.

A simple arrangement turns into something neither of them can deny. And a war that neither of them can forget could destroy them both.

***Actual rating is 3.5***

Noah might have gotten out of the war,
but the war has never left him.
Will he let the effects of it destroy him and the people who loves him most
Or will he succumb?

Noah's and Beth's story are two separate worlds brought together by the very thing that separates it: war. Beth already has an experience of what war can do to a person and letting in another (mentally and physically) wounded soldier into her life was not part of the plan. But she did.

I like both Noah and Beth. They complement each other really well. Beth is driven by the need to provide for herself and her father who's suffering from wounds he got from the war. Because of its severity, Beth works three to four jobs a day just so she can keep up with the bills, the mortgage and her dad's medical care. She's also really smart. Noah on the other hand goes on with his life post-war. He tries to survive and move on through his own means.

The progression of the story and the love between the two is very real. It showed how Beth came to love Noah and later on deal with the problems he has, together. And yet, there was an instance that they had to be apart. That time was the crux in their relationship that determines if it would survive or not.

Before I Fall shows the effects of war on the person and those around him. It shows how a person can be strong and survive not only by himself but also by the love of the people he has.

Book Blitz: Two Truths and a Lie by Ashley Stoyanoff!

Two Truths and a Lie by Ashley Stoyanoff
Series:(PRG Investigations, #1)
Publication date: February 28th 2015
Genres: New Adult, Romance

One year ago, I became a missing person. I left everything behind—family, friends, school. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My only option, really, until I realized running from a police officer isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.

It’s been exactly three-hundred and sixty-five days since I left home, but I’m finally ready to take the step I should have taken a year ago. I’m done hiding. I’m done running. I’m going to take my life back.
It was supposed to be easy. A meeting with Jason Pierce, a private investigator, was set up for me. All I had to do was go to him, let him do his thing, and then I could go home, or so I thought.

That is, until I met Jason and things got … complicated.
“Stop,” he shouts, the sound of his shoes hitting the pavement coming faster.  “Just stop for a minute.”

Quickening my stride, I keep my eyes on my car, as I rifle through my purse for my keys and call out, “Stop following me.”

Where the hell are my keys?  Pushing back a swell of anger-fueled anxiety, I keep searching.  My fingertips brush against the metal ring.  I clasp onto it, pulling them out, just as a large hand wraps around my bicep and I’m jerked to a halt.  I yelp, and stumble, rocking on my heels, and dropping the keys.  Another hand settles on my hip, steading me.

Then, I’m pulled around to face Jason.  His eyes flicker over my face a few times, doing what looks like a silent assessment, and whatever he sees makes him draw his lips tight and his brow dip in a frown.  “Are you okay?”

Am I okay?  I laugh.  I don’t even know how to answer that question.  I probably should be.  I know that.  I’ve waited a year for this chance, to have someone like him help me, but right now, after the exchange in the bar, with his hand locked around my arm and another on my hip, I don’t feel okay.  Not even a little.

“Yes, I’m good,” I stammer, taking a hasty step back, yanking myself free of his grasp.
“Everything’s just fine.”

He doesn’t look reassured by my answer.  Actually, he looks a little annoyed.  He arches a questioning brow and folds his arms over his chest.

I stand there, hesitating, contemplating whether or not I should turn around and run.  My car isn’t far.  Another twenty, maybe thirty steps.  Will he chase me again if I do it?

“Can I go now?” I ask, not ready or wanting to endure another chase.

He shakes his head slowly.  “If you want to make a lie believable, you gotta weave it with the truth.”

My brow furrows, confused by the comment.  “What?”

“Two truths and a lie, babe,” he says.  “Makes the lie harder to pick up on.”

Is this guy for real?  He looks it, serious, a little brooding.  He’s watching me, waiting for … I don’t even know.

“Okay, fine.”  I throw up my hands, exasperated, and sigh, long and loud.  “I’m fine, just in a hurry to find a hotel and grab a shower.”  I bend down and snag up my keys; then, I meet his eyes.  “Better?”

He laughs under his breath, but there is not a stitch of humor in the sound.  “Yeah, but I’d rather you didn’t bother with the lie.”

I scoff.  “Well, I’d rather you didn’t chase me through a parking lot.”
